Brethren, it is with great humility and honor that I accepted the station of the Senior Warden, Guardian of the West Gate. I want to thank the brothers of Meridian Lodge No. 77 for placing their faith in me to execute the duties of this important office and I will do my best to fulfill those duties to the best of my ability.
I want to congratulate our new Worshipful Master Nick Valinsky on his election to the East. I can not think of a finer Mason to sit in the Oriental Chair for the coming year. I am excited to help implement the programs WB Nick has in store for Meridian as I hope you are all as well.
To the other officers elected and appointed, congratulations on being entrusted by the brothers of Meridian to carry on in the finest manner, dedicating your precious time to the good of the lodge and its brothers.
Although it is said that Masons do not like change, I submit to you that we actually embrace change by electing new officers every year to carry on what has been established and to support new ideas and programs that will continue to move our lodge and Masonry forward. We may look to the past for strength and wisdom, but it is the future we all look towards as we face the east and a new Master.
Remember, each new Master is that bridge builder. He has crossed that chasm deep and wide and is now building that bridge to help each of us to cross that chasm which may be an obstacle to the rest of us. That Bridge is the bridge to the Future where the Master stands to lead us from the past.
Fraternally, RWB Tom – Senior Warden
